A Writer and Visual Storyteller based in Pune, currently exploring visual media and social structures.
Bio
Sarth Patel (he/him)
I’m a writer and visual storyteller currently exploring different mediums. I write about films and TV. While I have worked with personal experiences through some animation projects, I seek to extend this exploration to understand nuances of emotions and larger social structures like politics, cultures and ecosystems. The possibilities of non-fiction and fiction intrigue me. I carry a notebook or sketchbook everywhere to scribble what I sense.
Apart from sketching, I find respite in cooking and strolling among trees and streets.
Focus Areas for Exploration
I hope the program pushes me towards articulating my experience of engaging with art and its political significance more than just comparing it to conventions.
I wish to understand the nuances of diverse forms.
Is art and criticism an elitist privilege?
Does the uncertainty, ambiguity and experimentation in art find significance in places where a struggle for survival is the norm?
How does one support these practices while earning a living and providing for others?
How do you sustain and nurture a voice resisting, challenging and questioning a popular narrative while also confronting your own biases?
