Bio
Ghizlane (she/her)
PhD student, writer, and critic exploring science fiction, film, and the poetics of adaptation.
I’m interested in how stories reshape meaning across media, and how speculative narratives challenge ideas of identity, authorship, and time. My work is influenced by philosophy and a desire to read critically without losing wonder.
Focus Areas for Exploration
I’m curious to explore how criticism can move beyond evaluation into a space of imaginative thinking, where form, theory, and politics intersect.
I’m especially drawn to questions around adaptation and authorship: who speaks, who is translated, and what gets transformed in the process. The Young Critics Program offers a space to rethink the role of the critic, not as authority, but as participant, listener, and maker.
I hope to challenge the limits of academic writing, unlearn fixed approaches, engage with other ways of seeing, and explore criticism as a space for dialogue, transformation, and creative risk.
