Manuel Bayo Gisbert
b. 1997, Mexico City.
Additionally to my work in photography I have also worked with moving images, having done a number of short films, videos and a long autobiographical video installation. My photographic and videographic work about disappearance in Guerrero has been used
as official testimonial proof by the National Commission of Human Rights of Mexico (CNDH).
I have studied and taken workshops with photographers like Antoine D’Agata, Sohrab Hura, Sabiha Çimen and Joan Fontcuberta and with filmmakers like Laida Lertxundi, Lynne Sachs and Felipe Cazals. I was part of Centro de la Imagen’s Seminario de Producción Fotográfica in it’s 2021 edition and have been selected to take part in activities with the VII Academy, Festival Internacional de Fotografía en Valparaíso (FIFV), Sphere Festival and was selected as a finalist in the Magnum Foundation, among others.
I was awarded the Director’s Fellowship scholarship to study a One-Year Certificate Program at International Center of Photography.
I studied a degree in cinema at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. My films have been exhibited at Mexico’s National Cinematheque,where I also co-curated a retrospective of the films of R. Bruce Elder.
